Project description:
Especially for SMEs it becomes increasingly important to deal with the demographic change. An activating consultancy becomes necessary to successfully imply precocious measures to combating consequences of the demographic change. This can be done by internal or external experts - so called “Demographie Lotsen”, or demographic consultants. It must not only provide information concerning chances and risks of the demographic development for each company, but also hint at methods and tools for a systematic approach to minimize negative outcomes.
The successful accomplishment of consulting activities requires a well-founded apprenticeship.
Nationwide qualification program and its requirements:
!The projects main aim is the nationwide qualification of demographic consultants who ought to primarily sensibilize SMEs to the subject of demography. Moreover, in future steps they should be consulted and supported during the interaction with the specific challenges in their own company.
Target group for the project are both (external) consultants that so far focused on other branches of project consultancy, and employees interested in confronting and tackling the challenges that the demographic development will bring for their own company.
For the nationwide, long-term establishment of consultancy offers, it requires the efficient creation of a network connecting all demographic consultants and their trainees. The network should realize the scientific and personal exchange between its members, should offer further educational opportunities, and should hint at possibilities for initiating communal projects. Establishing this network will happen in cooperation with the DEx - Demografie Experten Verein (www.demografie-experten.de).
Requirements for a qualifies, suitable and successful consultancy of SMEs are demographic consultants that have excellent competences regarding the demographic change in the business environment, but also methodological competences concerning the correct way of consulting.
The curriculum of the basic qualification seeks to effectively prepare the would-be “Demographie Lotsen” for a preventive demographic consultancy.
Modular qualification concept
- Preparation phase: Information regarding the basics of demographic consultancy will be provided before the first meeting. This approach will lower the possibility of a large heterogeneity among participants.
- Training (3 days): The use of tools for the preventive demographic consultancy will be tested and worked out with concrete case studies. The program is set up after the three-phase model by Lewin (1981): 1. unfreeze, 2. move, 3. freeze.
- Self study: During self study periods between the training days, would-be consultants are requires to work through additional valuable material. Their task is also to create individual consultant profiles and to start preparing the acquisition of companies.
- Regional forum on the topic: After the seminars a regional information and discussion even will be initiated by the project responsible, and planned by the would-be demographic consultants. The proclaimed aim is to sensibilize regional actors and companies as much as the support to start establishing a well functioning network among SMEs in the region.
- Practical period: The ones in training are each doing one-day preventive consultancies in three companies and initiate additional further reaching activities that should improve each company’s consciousness about challenges rising due to the demographic change. This can be done by workshops, for instance. The aim is not only to educate would-be demographic consultants, but also to reach companies directly. The would-be “Demographie Lotsen” will be supported by the consultancy d-ialogo.
- Reflection day: This obligatory day seeks to evaluate experiences of the demographic consultants during a workshop and aims to answer any open questions. Furthermore, the entire project will be evaluated qualitatively.
The qualification will take place in ten central location in Germany and begins in April 2009.
Tasks for each project partner:
The project coordination is in the hands of the agentur mark GmbH.
The Institut für Arbeit (IAW) mainly conceptualizes the curriculum for the basic qualification of the demographic consultants, as much as they develop target group specific modules for separately attendee groups. The latter happens with support of various organizations.
The consultancy d-ialogo carries out the basic qualification.
